Shopping Smarts – End of Season Sales
If you are a shopaholic, then it is best you do not read this post. All my favourite retail stores, even those I like the least, are gunning for your wallet with their insane end of the season sales. I am eternally a recovering shopaholic due to this time of the year. My guidelines to breaking the bank with your quality and style purchases are rather simple.
Shop Online
When you sign up as a first time user, most online stores will give you a voucher to encourage you to start shopping. So, if you have not yet enjoyed an online shopping spree with Spree, Zando, TakeALot or Sassy Chic, then this is the perfect time to start. Your sign up voucher will come with terms and conditions , check those out. I know that Zando will give you a R 200 voucher on condition that your purchase price is R 500 or more. Spree and Sassy Chic will throw in a free speedy delivery if you spend over R 250 or R 350 respectively. Personally, I would rather spend extra on a nice scarf or a pair of sunglasses than on a delivery fee. I love a bargain that much.
Follow your fave Shopping Centres on Social Media
Stalk your local malls via social media so you do not miss out their sidewalk sales and designer pop up shops. My fellow Pretorians that love proudly South African designer clothes and accessories at a steal, diarize the 26 – 29 August 2015. You do not want to miss the SA Fashion Week Pop Up Shop Brooklyn Mall to buy directly from the fashion designers you love and maybe take a selfie-nyana with them.
Make bargain buying rules and stick by them
My rules are for retail therapy indulgence are classified in two, intentional and spontaneous buys.
- An intentional buy is for any item you have been waiting to purchase for six months or more. In that case, you may buy this item at 25% off, even then, only if you have it on good authority that the stock is limited. After all, you have survived six months without the item, no point in throwing a lot of good money at it. You might as well wait for the 50% off sale.
- A spontaneous buy can only be justifiable at 75% off, under the condition that it is of superior quality and is of a timeless design. I have collected my leather boots, jackets and bags using this reasoning.
Now, run along and indulge yourself. Wisely!
With a fab wardrobe and an empty wallet,
Meka-O
